NEW WORK BY CONSTANCE GRAYSON

Presently, I am alternating between doing small paintings on paper and larger mixed media pieces on wooden cradle panels. The smaller pieces are primarily explorations of color and mark making. The mixed media pieces are composed of acrylic, inks, graphite, hand-printed papers, painted mylar and found objects collaged onto vintage maps.

Maritime Italy. 24” x 18”. Acrylic, ink, graphite and found objects mounted on a vintage map of Maritime Italy. When you look closely at this piece, you can see Italian text and images.

Time in Prague. 20” x 30”. Acrylic, inks, painted mylar, hand-printed paper and found objects collaged onto a vintage map of Prague. The mastheads shown —”Tema”— are from a Czech language magazine. Other elements relating to Prague can be seen in the piece.

Eternal City. 30” x 20”. Acrylic, ink, hand-printed papers and found objects collaged onto a vintage map of Rome. The piece is on a wooden cradle panel. Throughout the piece, bits of Italian text and images can be seen.

Blue Caribbean. 18” x 24”. Acrylic, inks, painted mylar, hand-printed papers and found objects collaged onto a vintage map of the Caribbean. The work is mounted on a wooden cradle panel.

Land of the Feathered Serpent. 30” x 20”. Acrylic, ink, hand-printed papers and found objects collaged onto a vintage map of Pre-Columbian Americas. The piece is mounted on a wooden cradle panel.
