-
Learn the skills and techniques you need to transform your creative needs into art.
-
Let your art tell your story.
Passport to Art is a 6 week course taught by art educators and professional artists for foster kids 6-13 years of age. During the six Sunday afternoon sessions, your youth will “travel” to various countries where they will learn a little about the country and its culture and will complete at least one art project for each country. The directors of this program are Hope Soch, an art educator with thirty years experience, and Constance Grayson, a professional artist. Guest artists will join us each week as well. Your youth will “visit” China, France, Venezuela, Mexico, Japan and Columbia. The sessions will be held on January 26,February 2, February 9, February 23, March 2, March 9 and March 14. There will be an exhibit of the work created, as well as work by the visiting artists, to be held at Arts Place in Lexington in conjunction with the very popular Gallery Hop. At this exhibit, your youth will get to show off the work created and will receive their stamped Passport showing the countries visited as well as a Certificate of Completion. The Sunday sessions for kids 6-10 years old will be from 1:00-2:30 and for kids 11-13 will be from 3:00-4:30. Due to a generous grant from LexArts, there is no charge for your youth to attend this course. Space is limited so early registration is encouraged.
LexArts has provided funding support for Passport to the Arts for Foster Kids through its annual Fund for the Arts campaign.
